Woot : One Day, One Deal (SM)

Look, we all know that there have been some crazy coverups lately. Something’s going on on the main Woot page, and the writers are trying to warn us, just like the surviving Beatles tried to warn us in the mid-sixties that Paul was dead and his impostor was trying to take over the group. But what’s happening? And why is the CamelBak Day Pack the key? How do we even know this? I’ll take it one step at a time.

First of all, the CamelBak Day Pack is designed to offer the illusion of choice. See, you’ve got your pick of six different “types” of CamelBak Day Packs, but they all end up providing the same toploading design with easy access to contents, as well as a padded laptop sleeve, an organizer pocket, extra space for your power cords and laptop bricks, even a secure zippered stash pocket on the inside. It doesn’t matter which color you like best, they’re all going to be the same. That’s what those clever writers are hinting at by anagraming “May Backpack Deal” like that. Because it doesn’t matter what month it is! You don’t have a real choice! And neither do they!

After I came to this conclusion, I looked a little further. You see, the CamelBak Day Pack has straps, and in some cases, a waistbelt. Those straps and belts are designed to hold the CamelBak Day Pack in position no matter what the user is doing. It can’t be thrown off, no matter how hard one tries. Another overseer that couldn’t be thrown off was Mel from Mel’s Diner, part of that popular late 70s show Alice. Mel was played by Vic Tayback and filmed in California (that is to say, “CA-Mel-back”) and Vic Tayback also played the lead mobster in the classic Star Trek episode “A Piece Of The Action”. Is this the writing team’s way of subtly informing us that they’ve been given “A Piece Of The Action” to shut up and be metaphorical waitresses, subservient to their dark and sinister masters? Or is there a team member who has taken a “Polly” Holiday from this agreement to warn us all about the takeover that slowly eats away at all our souls?

It’s clear that, at this point, we may have no idea how the current situation relates to Majestic 12. But rest easy, friends, because it is obvious that we have someone on the inside desperate to talk. And information, much like someone who purchases a CamelBak Day Pack in order to hike, jog to work, or maybe even bike to school, wants to be free.
